Happy weekend, friends! How has your week been? What are you looking forward to this weekend? Matt and I are off to a music festival today, and Sprout and E are having sleepovers with their respective grandparents, so everybody is happy.
This week I started watching “Orange is the New Black.” As my Facebook friends predicted when I alerted them to this situation, I quickly became hooked on the show. I’m really excited about the original shows Netflix (and Hulu and probably others) are putting out, and I’m interested to see what kind of impact these shows have on the general TV market and experience. Of course, I’ll probably never give up my semi-guilty “Bachelor/ette” addiction but I love that shows like “Orange” (and “Pramface,” and “The Booth at the End”) are being made and that they’re being distributed using these new outlets.
As I mentioned earlier this week, my new challenges at work are keeping me really busy, really engaged … and really tired. Because I’m no longer cruising in my comfort zone I’m finding myself craving more sleep at night and more coffee every day. It’s funny though, for much of my life I had this staunch idea that I didn’t want to wear suits and climb corporate ladders, and although I still don’t want to wear suits, I’m enjoying stepping up my work game and learning new skills and taking on more responsibilities. Even though I feel more tired each night, it’s a much more satisfying kind of tired, even on the hard days.
It’s also making me more appreciative of time spent away from the hustle, enjoying life’s simpler joys with my family and friends.
Here are a few articles I really enjoyed this week:
Ashton Kutcher’s real talk for teenagers. And all of us, really.
Seriously, why is breastfeeding in public still an issue? I don’t get it.
And just for laughs, 20 horses with better hair than you.
